WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TAKE A SAUNA BATH?
Are you one of those who prefer to take a shower or a bath and do your Sauna session during your evening routine? Japanese doctors have studied the subject at length via a study which suggests that this habit should be changed to favor a morning ritual.
IS IT BETTER TO DO YOUR SAUNA SESSION IN THE MORNING OR IN THE EVENING?
Researchers at the University of Chiba in Kashiwa, Japan conducted a study to assess the physiological effects of sauna heat in the morning. The results indicate that those who took their Sauna bath in the morning had a lower resting pulse, could solve problems more easily and were more focused on the whole of the following day compared to those who indulged in a Sauna session in the evening.
“By comparing the effects of three different alternatives; shower, sauna and neither, we were interested in the different effects that different habits have on the minds and bodies of participants,” the researchers explain in their study.
The study lasted three days, where the ten participants were closely monitored. Their heart rate, body temperature, brain activity and cognitive abilities were measured and compared, and the result clearly demonstrates that those who started their day with a Sauna or a shower remained more relaxed, more efficient and performed better on cognitive tests throughout the next day.
“We conclude that Sauna sessions are not only good for the heart, but Sauna in the morning also has a positive effect on performance during the day,” the scientists report.
If the morning Sauna seems particularly recommended, it will provide you with many benefits throughout the day. So it's up to you to decide what YOUR well-being moment will be!
